This is a work in progress and is subject to change at any time for whatever reason if we feel necessary. The guidelines herein this post will be checked and enforced in any MLP official Chair race from today until now on!

1. Chairs must have 5 wheels.
2. Chairs must have only 1 point of contact from the seat of the chair to the wheel base.
3. There cannot be any artificial strengthening of a chair's wheelbase with the exception of tape. Allowed tapes are: duct, packaging, electrical, scotch, masking, and painters tape.
4. There must be arms on the chair and they may not be removed.
5. After-market screws are perfectly legit.
6. No modifications may be made to change the swivel-ability of the chair, however the swivel lock is allowed to be engaged during the race but it must be the lock that came with the chair.
7. Enhancing your top speed or acceleration with streamers, paint, crayons, markers, highlighters, colored-tape and glitter are not only allowed, they're encouraged.
8. Wheels on the chair may not be replaced with after-market wheels... they must be the original packaged wheels.
9. Wheels may be lubricated or greased at your own risk.
10. You may not remove any piece of the chair to reduce its weight, parts that happen to have gone missing from years of sitting or abuse is legal. However if you are found "applying age" in the parking lot or something your chair will be disqualified. (this does not override rule #4)
11. Practice runs are encouraged, however don't pretend to know what the course is, we usually don't know until about 10 minutes before hand.
12. The only means that may be used to move the chair are by the person pushing the chair. Pushing is defined as a person, wearing no artificial electronics or bionic modifications, using their feet to walk and or run while having their hands attached to the chair.

Rules during the actual race...
1. One person sitting, One person pushing.
2. One chair per team.
3. Person running must have shoes.
4. Person sitting must have both legs in or on the chair (cross legged or feet resting on top of the wheel base).
5. Person sitting may not touch the ground while moving.
6. A team may not touch or push another team. Incidental contact is expected, but excessive embellishment of this will force you to be DQed.
7. Laps are as long as we say they are.

What about stock replacement wheels? Can we keep a bag of them handy in case one breaks?

Please note, I see no restrictions on the following devices:

Mag-lev propulsion (cannot replace wheels, no mention of having to be in contact with ground)
Blower and plenum chamber hover capability (see above)
Top-side mounted rotary propulsion
Rider mounted wings (increased lift)
Jet/Rocket Assist Take-off units AKA: RATO and JATO (ZOMG!)
Outrigger Skis (enhances stability in turns, rules state only restriction from additional contacts with wheel base, not with ground directly)
Flamethrowers
Mine droppers
Oil Slick generators
pop-up cupola with M2 .50 heavy machine gun on a ring mount
side-mounted AT-4 rockets
melee weapons (chair-mounted lances and various rider wielded implements of destruction)

Well, more and more chairs are coming with large balloons full of oil attached to them these days.  For lubrication of critical joints.

Caltrops are also an option on higher end models.  They aren't a "weapon", they're more of a motivator.  They motivate people to not be where they are.
