LAN Info
There's a lot of unknowns about LAN Parties if you have never been to one. Hopefully we can clear some of them up. We'll attack this Q&A Style...
Q: What is a LAN party
A: LAN stands for Local Area Network. It's just an acronym that sounds cool. Really a LAN party is when a bunch of gamers and such get together and hook up to play games over a network. A large LAN provides something that internet servers just can't do - tremendously fast speeds.
Q: Why bother going to a LAN, I have internet at my house
A: Your internet will never go as fast a LAN. Plus, there isn't 25+ people playing the same game in your bed/computer room. If there are let us know and we'll show up! The experience is totally unique, and you can't get it any where else.
Q: How old do I need to be?
A: We have no set age policy, but old enough to handle yourself. We do have a waiver for people under 18 years old that need to be signed by a parent or guardian.
Q: Does my parent need to be there the whole time?
A: No, but we do have their phone number so if there's problems or an emergency we can call them.
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: You should bring your own computer, any necessary cables, and stuff to sleep with. They're concrete floors, so remember. Extra blankets or a sleep mat will help you... a lot.
Q: Will my stuff be ok?
A: For the most part, yes it should be. We have staff up all night to keep an eye out. Make sure you have a password on your computer though when you are not near it.
Q: Can I bring Food?
A: Absolutely. There are food places nearby but do yourself a favor and pack a couple lunches and some snacks. Who wants to stop gaming?
Q: Why do you charge an entrance fee?
A: We have to pay rent, that's where most of the money goes. Any profit we make goes back into the event for next year. As individuals we make no money off of this.
